Two suits have been filed

Two suits have been filed by Chicago area moviegoers against area movie theaters for showing commercials before movies. The suits allege that instead of starting the feature on time, the theaters are showing ads delaying the start of the film by up to four minutes. This brings up an excellent point. Why are we forced to watch commercials after we just paid up to $10 to see a movie? Even the pay television industry isn’t that brazen. When was the last time you saw a Coca-Cola commercial on HBO? The whole point of commercials during “free” television broadcasts is to pay for the so-called “free” programming. Does the Hollywood money machine really need more money? People in the movie industry are some of the richest people in America. If you want to make the argument that it’s the movie theaters, themselves, who need the money, then I think you should first consider that there’s obviously a lot of money to go around. Maybe, somebody should be taking a smaller piece of the pie.
