The curse lives on
Well, it’s official. The curse lives on. The Cubs have once again failed to make it to the World Series. The city is in mourning. I have never seen so many Chicagoans dejected at once. Several of the television news reporters were on the verge of tears. Several fans at Wrigley were actually crying. It was particularly sad to see this one older lady wiping away her tears on television. It looked like she had waited all her life for the Cubs to go to the World Series. You’ve got to hand it to the Marlins. They played extremely well and overcame what would seem like an insurmountable 3-1 setback.
Oh well, at least I got to see Billy Corgan lead the singing in the seventh inning stretch. It was kind of amusing to hear him singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame. I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m still amazed when I see Corgan smiling. It almost makes me feel somewhat uneasy. Where’s the characteristic angst from the days of yore? Where’s the mellon collie and the infinite sadness? I suppose I should be happy that Billy is happy. Hopefully, he’ll make some good happy music.
I also hope Steve Bartman lives to see another day, now that the Cubs have failed to make it to the World Series. There are plenty of people concerned for his well being. Here’s some more interesting commentary on Steve: Waxy.org: Daily Log: Cubs Fan.
