The CTA gets even worse
This is making me miss the public transportation in Manhattan even more…
“Pointing a political gun at the Illinois General Assembly, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) board on Wednesday voted to slash service 36% and raise some fares unless lawmakers ride to the rescue by mid-July with a $55 million cash bailout.”

Unfortunately, the majority of the people I see taking the CTA are not people that can afford a service cut or a fare hike. Just a few days ago I saw a boy get on the bus and pay his fare with a big handful of change. I see people begging for fare cards with transfers left on them. These are the people who take public transportation because they have no other means of transportation. These are the people who are really going to suffer.
If this service reduction and fare increase go into effect and the cab fare increase also goes into effect I’m going to start carpooling to work.
