Forbes recently posted their Most Expensive Zip Codes 2005. The list is based on the median home sale value for that zip code in 2004. So, make of it what you will. As usual, the list consists mostly of zip codes on the coasts. However, Illinois managed to get two North Shore communities on the list. Kenilworth came in 57th with a median home sale value of $1,075,283. That puts it just behind Beverly Hills and Stinson Beach, California. Glencoe came in 118th with a median home sale value of $847,654. A cursory examination of the list shows Kenilworth and Glencoe to be the only zip codes from the Midwest on the list.
